asia-aq (Jan to march 2024)

Participants: Katherine Paredero, Jared Novelly, Alvin La, Yoel Ghebrecristos, Cyril Mccormick and Saewung Kim

We participated in the Airborne and Satellite Investigation of Air Quality (ASIA-AQ) campaign, an international collaboration between NASA, NIER, DENR, UKM, GISTDA and MOENV. A Time-of-Flight Chemical Ionization Mass Spectometer (TOF-CIMS) was deployed NASA’s airborne laboratory - the DC-8 - and operated by our team. This system was used to collect data on a variety of copounds, including SO2, HONO and HO2NO2, over The Philippines, South Korea, Thailand and Taiwan.

nyc-mets (July To aug 2023)

Participants: Julie Devlin, Katherine Paredero, Sanjeevi Nagalingam and Saewung Kim

We investigated missing OH reactivity using the comparative reactivity method at rooftop sites based in NYC and Guilford, Connecticut.

Korean Airborne Flux measurement study (April 2019-Present)

Participants: Gracie Wong, Chinmoy Sarkar, Anne Mielnik, Daun Jeong and Saewung Kim

We quantified trace gas emissions from industrial facilities in South Korea in a 3-year aircraft research campaign to better understand anthropogenic air pollution. We deployed a CIMS-QMS and PTR-MS onboard a research aircraft at HanSeo University.

Antarctic Cruise kopri (mar to may 2018)

Participants: Daun Jeong and Roger Seco

We participated on a research cruise lead by the Korean Polar Research Institute (KOPRI) on the RV Aaraon to Antarctica.

Arctic Cruise KOPRI (Jul to Aug 2016/2017)

Participants: Blanca Rodriguez and Jerry Thomas

We participated on a research cruise lead by the Korean Polar Research Institute (KOPRI) on the RV Aaraon to the Arctic.

KORUS-AQ 2016 (May 2016 to Jun 2016)

Participants: Dianne Sanchez, Daun Jeong, YoungRo Lee, Roger Seco and Saewung Kim

We participated in the Korea-United States Air Quality study, an international collaboration between NASA (U.S.) and NIER (S.Korea). We deployed instruments at two ground super-sites and the NASA DC-8 aircraft. These included: OH CIMS, OH Reactivity CIMS, PTR-ToF-MS, NO2 CRDS analyzer.

MAPS-Seoul 2015 (May, Aug, and Sep 2015)

Participants: Dianne Sanchez, Daun Jeong, Mark Wang, and Saewung Kim

We deployed and OH CIMS, OH reactivity CIMS, and NO2 CRDS analyzer to ground sites at the Seoul Metropolitan Area and the Taehwa Research Forest for the Megacity Air Pollution Study funded by the National Institute for Environmental Research (NIER).

GOAmazon (Jan 2014 to Oct 2014)

Participants: Roger Seco and Saewung Kim

We deployed an OH/HO2+RO2/H2SO4 CIMS and PTR-ToF-MS to the Brazilian Amazon research site (T2) for the US-Brazil collaborative field campaign GoAmazon. The campaign consisted of two intensive phases to characterize biosphere-pollution interactions from radical chemistry to regional climate change. The project is sponsored by DOE for three year including field observations and data analysis

SOAS (Jun 2013 to Jul 2013)

Participants: Ian Wrangham, Roger Seco, and Saewung Kim

We deployed OH/HO2+RO2/H2SO4 CIMS, OH reactivity, and NO2 CRDS analyzer during the SOAS field campaign on the ground site in Brent, Alabama. U.S. EPA funded our group for the research conducted.

DISCOVER-AQ California (Jan 2013)

Participants: Roger Seco and Saewung Kim

During the NASA sponsored field campaign-DISCOVER AQ California phase, we conducted atmospheric VOC observations using PTR-ToF-MS at the Fresno Ground site.
